Product Review: Chocopeño Cookies

I love vegan chocolate chip cookies. (Who doesn't?) I also love jalapeños. But putting them together? I'm not so sure about that. So when I came across Chocopeño jalapeño chocolate chip vegan cookies on Twitter, I knew I had to try them. The fine people at Chocopeño were kind enough to send me a few bags of these little goodies to try and review.
Looking at the package, Chocopeño claims that these are the world'd first jalepeño chocolate chip cookies, and they're certainly the first vegan version of this flavor. Also, I'm pretty sure Dermie helped them design the packaging because they have a tagline that reads "These Cookies are Bangin'!"

For all the weirdness of putting jalepeños in chocolate chip cookies, I have to admit that they are pretty bangin'. These are the type of chocolate chip cookies that are a little crispier, not the real soft, chewy kind. I think they would be good to dip in some almond milk, but I haven't tried that yet.
The jalepeño is not overwhelming, but it's definitely there in obvious form. The cookies are spicy enough to leave a little heat in the mouth, at times requiring a drink of water to cool your taste buds off.
The Chocopeño product is not too bad in the calorie realm either, with a whole package only being 250 calories, and I've only had a half package at any given time.

Overall, I give kuddos to Chocopeño for their daringness in creating a unique cookie, and I think they pulled it off. It's not the type of cookie you eat all day every day, but it is definitely a refreshing departure from the far too generic standard chocolate chip cookie.
