Gardein Launches New Ultimate Beefless Burger

If you've read this site before, I'm sure you're well aware that I really enjoy Gardein products. Their meatless wonders are full of protein, low in fat, and are absolutely delicious! So being a big fan of both Gardein and veggie burgers, this news is just music to my vegan ears. I'll be at the Natural Products Expo all three days to taste this burger and all of the other new products coming to market, and will be doing nightly recaps here, so stay tuned. (March 7, 2011) — Gardein Protein International, the maker of gardein™, an award-winning line of tasty and healthy meatless foods, is launching the new gardein™ Ultimate Beefless Burger at Natural Products Expo West 2011, March 10-13 in Anaheim, Calif. This new meat-free burger from gardein™ has the taste and texture of a traditional hamburger but with a better nutritional profile.
“We’re very excited to launch our new Ultimate Beefless Burger—it tastes fantastic,” says Yves Potvin, president and founder of Garden Protein. “Our meat-free burger is healthier for you than a hamburger and better for the planet since it is free of animal ingredients. The 130 calorie gardein™ Ultimate Beefless Burger has 65 percent less fat than a hamburger, and is free of cholesterol and saturated fat. Made from a blend of vegetables, grains and plant-based proteins, each meat-free patty has 17 grams of protein, 6 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber, 5 grams of fat and 280 mg of sodium per serving.
Currently available at Ralphs in Southern California and select Whole Foods Markets and coming soon to the frozen food aisle across the United States, suggested retail price for the gardein™ Ultimate Beefless Burger is $4.99 per 12-ounce pack of four patties.

I saw these at a local health food store ( Westchester County, NY) today. I wasn't in the mood for veggie burgers, but it looks pretty good!
