Product Review: Gourmellows Gourmet Vegan Candy

Since Easter is only a week away, and I know some of you will stuffing baskets for little loved ones around you, I decided I'm going to hit you with some vegan candy reviews this week. Of course, around Halloween, we reviewed the glorious snacks from GoMaxGo. This time, I present to you Gourmellows gourmet vegan candy.
The mainstain, flagship product in the Gourmellows line is the "Gourmellow" (pictured above). Described by the creator as "Half Marshmallow, Half Truffle, Whole Deliciousness.", that description couldn't be more correct. Vegan vanilla marshmallow, vegan ganache, all covered in dark chocolate, this candy is incredible. Perfectly sweet and rich, the fluffy marshmallow is way too good. Using only agave nectar for its sweetness, this little bite of perfection is handmade in small batches to guarantee quality and freshness.

One thing I received in the box from Gourmellows that I didn't expect to be very excited about was the three nut vegan nougat. I'd never had a nougat but seeing as it didn't contain any chocolate, they just didn't appeal to me much. Well, I was totally wrong. Combining pistachios (my favorite nut), almonds and hazelnuts, and flavored with real organic vanilla beans, these were a sleeper that packed a punch! The nougat was the perfect consistency, not too chewy but far from crumbly. These are made in two pound batches, and each batch contains over a pound of nuts. Yum!

The last item on the Gourmellows roster is chocolate covered sea salt caramel. This vegan caramel has a coconut milk base, but tasted exactly like traditional non-vegan caramel, which happens to be one of the things I miss sometimes since becoming vegan. Covered in dark chocolate, the slight saltiness and awesome sweetness of the caramel make quite the delight for the taste buds. A little warning, all Gourmellows products are to be stored in the refrigerator, but this one must be put out for a bit before you eat it. The caramel hardens up in the fridge and needs some time to soften before consumption.

In short, Gourmellows makes some of the best vegan sweets I've ever had, and the fact that they're all handmade with love is greatly appreciated. Put some of these in your Easter baskets, or pick some up to enjoy for yourself when you're craving something for your sweet tooth.
