Product Review: Two Degrees Vegan Food Bars

If you didn't see my post of Two Degrees' press release about national Whole Foods distribution, let's just start by saying this is a unique company. The way Tom's Shoes does in fashion, Two Degrees does in vegan food. For every bar purchased, Two Degrees donates a medically-formulated nutrition pouch to malnourished children around the world. You can read more about these pouches on the Two Degrees site. (They're not vegan, by the way.)

Two Degrees was nice enough to send me a sample of each of their three flavors, and none of them disappointed. These are not at all a protein bar like the PureFit bars I reviewed a couple weeks ago, they're more of a snack/meal-replacement bar that could be used for sustenance when you're not in a position to get a regular meal.

The first bar I tried was the apple pecan, and it was probably my favorite of the three. (What is happening to my undying affinity for chocolate products?) The Two Degrees team did a great job of combining different fruits, nuts, and nut butters in each of the bars to create really deep flavor profiles. This one uses almond butter with the apples and pecans, which makes it taste just like a fresh apple pie. Delicious!

The cherry almond flavor also uses almond butter, and along with the cherries it's filled with dried plums. The cherries, which are sourced from a small farm in Oregon, are perfectly tart and sweet. Although they have similar ingredients, this one had a little more crunch and texture than the apple pecan, which I really appreciated.

Last but not least, we have the chocolate peanut flavor. Everyone knows peanut butter and chocolate is the best combination of flavors in the universe, so it's no surprise that this variety made an excellent dessert bar. It's got chocolate chips, it's got peanuts and peanut butter, what's not to love? Enough said.

Another nice thing about these bars is that they're all made with a nutritious blend of quinoa, chia and millet. It's always good to see a food bar that focuses on health as much as it does on taste.

For the great mission behind the company and the tasty products that are supporting that mission, I highly recommend Two Degrees vegan food bars.
