Product Review: PureFit Nutrition Bars

A couple weeks ago, I was contacted by a nutrition bar company called PureFit with a line of vegan bars that I had never heard of, so I figured they were new to the business. Turns out they've been around for over a decade, but they just began marketing directly to the vegan community, although their products have been vegan all along. I checked out their site, and everything they stand for with nutrition and exercise is right up my alley. I gladly agreed to accept their offer for some free bars to review and am thankful I did.

When the package arrived, I was pleased to see that PureFit had sent me one of each of their flavors to review, and I started off right away with the almond crunch bar. When I opened the wrapper, I was surprised to see that that bar was not really chunky at all, it was more a smooth, creamy consistency with all the ingredients blended together. This was much to my liking, especially for the almond flavor, because it made the bar taste pretty close to a stick of marzipan, albeit one with much less calories and far more protein. This flavor was probably my second favorite of the batch.

I knew the granola crunch wouldn't be my favorite, just because granola isn't really my thing, so I decided to try that one next. I'm going to have to admit that I actually really enjoyed this granola bar. Since most of the ingredients are blended together like they were in the almond bar, it made the granola more palatable and actually just the right amount of crunch. This was not at all like a regular granola bar, and like the rest of PureFit's bars, it's loaded with a whopping 18 grams of protein.

Since I enjoyed the almond crunch bar so much, I thought the berry almond crunch would be even better, but I was wrong. I'm not quite sure what it was about the fruit in this bar, but it tasted a little off. The berries reminded me of mainstream dried fruits that are loaded with preservatives, but let me note that PureFit's bars DO NOT contain any preservatives, so I'm not quite sure what it was that I didn't like about this variety. Don't get me wrong, this was not a bad bar by any means, it was just my least favorite.

Of course, most of you who read this blog know I'm a chocoholic, so my bet for favorite bar of the batch was on the chocolate brownie variety. I made this my dessert one night after dinner, and I was not disappointed. This bar is ridiculously good, and genuinely tastes like a healthy vegan brownie! Anyone looking to get vegan protein in chocolate flavored bar, this should be your choice. Surprisingly, this wasn't my favorite bar, but it was probably tied for second place with the marzipan-like almond crunch bar.

Now we get to the bar that was the clear winner in my opinion, the peanut butter crunch bar. This bar is a peanut butter lover's dream! A mix between a peanut butter cookie and eating peanut butter straight from the jar, this bar is rich, filling and beyond delectable. With 18 grams of protein and only 220 calories, you could get away with eating a few of these things a day and not feel too guilty about it, all while loving your peanut butter infused life.

For their great tasting, nutrition-packed products as well as their commitment to a well-rounded healthy lifestyle, not to mention their Orange County roots, I give PureFit nutrition bars my full endorsement. 18 grams of vegan protein, around 200 calories, gluten-free, no melting, kosher, and just about anything else you could ask for in a nutrition bar.

They sent me some bars too!! I haven't tried them all yet so I haven't posted a review. But I really liked the granola (my first...b/c I love granola....though I actually wanted more crunch) and the chocolate brownie bar. Sounds like I need to go with the Peanut Crunch next!

Peanut and almond crunch were soooo good! Since I'm not a granola fan I actually enjoyed the amount of crunch in that one. :)
