Hit or Miss: Hana Grill

During a grueling day of Christmas shopping at Fashion Island this past December, I was feeling pretty hungry. I could've headed to True Food Kitchen or Wahoo's, but I decided to check out the underground food court to see if there was anything new and vegan down there. What I found was pleasantly surprising. One item on the Hana Grill menu jumped out at me immediately: vegan chicken bowl.

The bowl comes with flame broiled faux chicken over rice with either steamed veggies or a side salad. I took the steamed veggies, which was a good choice. The rice was standard white rice, which was a little disappointing, but the chicken made up for it. It was nicely and mildly seasoned, perfectly broiled, and just the right texture. I am super curious as to what brand of fake chicken they use. Of course I topped the whole bowl off with a generous portion of Sriracha, but there's other sauces available also.

At $9.95, the dish was a bit pricey but it was a large portion and it's also sitting on some of the most expensive real estate in the country so I can't be too mad at it. I had never heard of Hana Grill before but the workers told me it's part of a chain based in LA, so I look forward to having this bowl at other locations in the future. Verdict for the Hana Grill vegan chicken bowl: HIT.

Why was the white rice disappointing? Do you like brown rice or something?

Hey thanks for sharing about the 3rd floor quicky, I would have never headed down there if you'd not told us all about it. I sincerely appreciate your post.
